Meant Well

April 15, 2010

I was doing a little pre-chemo housecleaning today. Because I know that once Tuesday comes, I’m going to be out of commission for a couple of weeks. And for some reason, my cleaning people (sis+) don’t come to clean anymore. That’s okay. I get it. This cancer shit goes on for frickin’ ever. I’ll clean the house my damn self.

I’m feeling well enough today to do a little bit of it myself. As much as my stupid right arm, that seems to be having more nerve pain, will allow. Stupid right arm. Were it not for the right arm, this cancer crap would be a walk in the damn park.  Almost. Except for days 1 through 10 to 14 of the chemo takeover.

While grabbing sheets to make the bed, I came across a couple of items I don’t have any use for right now.

Don’t need to use the color conserve shampoo as there is no color. And no hair.

Don’t need to Nair anything off these days. Not that I ever used this stuff anyway. It’s a brand new bottle from a long time ago. I must have been thinking about using my swimming suit at one point in time. Ha! Haven’t worn one since the kids were little and I took them to the city pool. Which would have been 10 years ago, at least.

I have no idea why I own an unopened box of Nair.

I also came across something that I’ve never needed to own, ever in this lifetime. Not even when I’m 92 years old.

It’s a gift from one of the lunchladies that my mom works with at the elementary school. I likehow it shows off the blue vein that’s smack-dab in the middle of my forehead. Who needs Google maps? Not me!

I’m sure the lunchlady meant well. Ahem.

I told my pal, CiNDy, that I was going to save this for the next person that I knew who was diagnosed with breast cancer. CiNDy said a silent prayer.

Plain Jane – I need your address again. Heh.

Y’know, you look pretty darned good. I didn’t look that good when I was in chemo.

My mom wanted to show me what a great face you have.

(I love my mom forever but I have to say that she didn’t look as good as you do.)

I guess your head’s not cold. I wore a sleep cap at night because my head was cold. And during the day? My head was cold from the air conditioning and I still needed to cover my head for comfort.

Fran – I’m always so danged hot and my head is only cold when I’m in the basement. Our basement is really cold! Otherwise, now that the snow is gone – I’m comfy!

I love the picture of you in the pink and white granny square thing… You look so coy… You rock that pink and white granny square thing!

Maggie was looking over my shoulder when I was reading your blog today (Yes, she’s one of THOSE annoying people who read over your shoulder and comment on what your reading! I must work on her!) and said how beautiful you are! And you really and truly are! *HUGS*

Oh, hey, that bottom picture of you reminds me of what I meant to post a day or two ago (and if I already did, and have forgotten, well, oops, I’m old!)

I saw a gorgeous bald woman the other night, and she had the best bald accessory! Ancient Egyptian eye makeup! Yep, kohly thick eyeliner. It’s the perfect match, a beautiful bald head and eyeliner. I say go for it!

    xoxo

ps that litle crocheted (knitted? what do I know) thinggy is cute!

You really do have one of the world’s greatest smiles. And as for a nicely shaped bald head? If I went out in public sans hair, strangers would come up and beg me to put a hat on.
