I Ain’t No Book Learner

September 8, 2010

So the answer to my being bored is to get textbooks and read them without being under the wire? That’s going to keep me from being bored? Do you people know how difficult it is for me to read textbooks? I get narcolepsy when I read textbooks. I’m not a book learner kind of a gal. I’m a “show me” kind of learner. I pick up stuff fast by example. Going back to school last fall was really difficult. Especially that medical terminology class. And then I went and got the cancer so that I could get out of completing the anatomy and physiology class.

I’ll do something else to alleviate my boredom.

I’ve been making jewelry but there’s only so much jewelry making I can do. What I think I need to do is:

1. Clean the crap out of this house. I’m not talking dusting and toilet washing. I’ve got cleaning people (still! hurray!) for that. I need to empty out all of my closets and go through the basement storage and get rid of things I haven’t used in awhile. It’s time to get rid of it because eventually The Big Nugget and I want to move back downtown to a condominium. Hopefully.

2. Write a novel. I’ve got outlines. I’ve got ideas. I just need to get my ass in gear and write. And now that I have, on loan, a laptop from The Big Nugget’s employer, I can get the hell out of this house and write in other places. Like Floweer’s garden store. Characters welcome.

Speaking of Floweer…

Dear Carol:

Somebody has been making a lot of jewelry. Somebody is trying to get mad beading skillz so she can show off at our fringe bracelet beading class. I think somebody has just turned beading into a competitive sport.

Sincerely,

Your Beading Teacher Who Will Try Not To Have a Teacher’s Pet

Look what you did! I make one suggestion you don’t care for, and suddenly you have a whole list of things you want to do. So you’re not bored.

See what you do for me, Harriet? You complete me! Causing me to clean my house and start writing that novel!

As I recall, you did exceptional in the medical terminology class. You earned a 99% in the class, right?
    Signed,
    Your medical terminology teacher

p.s. I am counting on you being in the A&P class starting in January. We’ll have fun. Okay?

Oh great! I haven’t had a spare moment to bead since our first class. This full time job of mine is getting in the way of things! I haven’t even been shopping for our next class. Well, I can’t wait to see Floweer’s creations! I am looking forward to our next class!
